A 1500 year old temple..kumbabhishekam happened recently.

Lord is suyambu worshipped by sage agathiar.

Temple is located at distance of 2 kms from Manapparai towards Trichy main road.It is an amazing temple arranged at the highest point of a slope. It has some well known statues of God Siva, God Guru, Chandaran, Suriya and Navagraha. 

A few engravings found on southern side dividers illustrate that the temple of Kodumbalore style and this may be one of same period.The temple is contructed at the time of "Chera regime". This temple has a subway to link up with other two Siva temples of Manaparai.

Temple is open from 8 am to 10am and from 5.30 pm to 7 pm

Moolavar: Sri Abhimukhtheeswarar

Amman: Sri Thripurasundari Ambal

A good 2500 years old temple and is said he built by the Cholas and also Thirupani has been done by the Cheras as well. The moolavar is facing east and the temple is located in the North East corner of the village.

The moolavar is believed to be providing Mukthi to all the dead ones here as he faces the funeral ground which is not away from the temple. And hence the name Abhimukhteeswarar. 

The old structure has been retained as it is and renovated really beautifully. The temple is open from 7 am.

We had the privilege of doing annabhishekam to the moolavar.

A good 1000 years old temple which is believed to be built by Raja Raja Chola I. The stone inscription found shows the details of the donations made towards lighting lamps for regular puja.

The earlier name of this village has been Kalanthai Nagar and it is said that sage Agasthyar has installed the Shivalingam and has worshiped him here in this village. It is also said that he stayed in this village and performed many Urchavam for the moolavar here.

The moolavar resembles the moolavar of Annamalai Sri Annamalayar. Ambal Akhilandeswari faces south and she is seen with a third eye in the forehead. This eye is clearly visible when milk Abhishekam is performed. The outer praharam has Pillayar, Naganatha swamy, Valli Devayanai Sametha Subramania Swamy and Navagraha Sannidhi. 

The famous Urchavam in this temple is Arudhra Dharshan and Natarajar comes out for a procession in the evening. All pancha murthy porapadu happens.

Sri Vayaaleeswarar Temple, Manimangalam, Kanchipuram

 

A very old Sivalingam which is between the famous Dharmalingeswarar Temple and Kailasanathar in the famous village of Manimangalam. This village a historical significance since the time of Pallavas. History records the famous Manimangalam war as well.

This should have been a famous temple 1500 years ago. The remains of the broken temple can be found around the current shrine. The old Nandhi has been broken and looks like has been cut off with a sword. The moolavar Vayaaleeswarar is facing east and is looking at lush green fields. There is no Ambal and a new Nandhi has been installed. The local villagers have set a small shed and daily puja is performed.

 A new temple needs to be constructed and villagers are seeking help towards this.

Sri Pushpagiriswarar Temple, Pammal, Chennai

 

Moolavar:Sri Pushpagiriswarar

Amman: Sri Pushpambikai 

A very old temple in the busy area of Pammal. The first inscription is dated to the 35th year of the reign of Virarajendra alias Kulotunga Chola III. The probable date in the English calendar is 3rd November 1210 CE. The inscription refers to an endowment of land to the nearby.

It is said that the Ranganathar from Thiruneermalai has done the prathisht of this shivalingam. The footprint of Ranganatha is found. It is a highlight of this temple. The icons representing the holy symbol called Namam, conch, discus, Hanuman, and Garuda are found around the sacred footprint.

This temple is on a very small hillock. Although the temple is completely renovated, the bottom portion of the wall where the inscriptions are found is not disturbed.

The second inscription is incomplete and dated to the 21st year of the reign of Rajaraja Chola III, which is in 1227 CE. It mentions that Pammal belonged to Kulotunga Chola Valanaattu Surathur Nadu sub-division of Puliyur Kottam in Jayankonda Chola Mandalam. It talks about the endowment for burning a lamp at Azhaga Perumal temple at Pammal. (Reference MCC 1972/03; Kalvettu - 65 January 2005 edition).
