The place Sastrapakkam has come as those days the horoscopes were read in this place by brahamins. It is said that if you keep your horoscope at the feet of the lord Vaidheeswarran he can rewrite your fate.

In earlier days the shivan here was called as Mrithunjayaeshwarar and Ambal was called Bhavaroganivarini.

Doing mahamrithunjaya Homam at this temple is belived to remove all ailments. They perform abhishekam to the lord with various herbs and during Shivaratri they perform 54 kind of abhishekam.

Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Kadambur Village, Maraimalai Nagar

Moolavar: Sri Kailasanathar
Amman: Sri Balambigai

During the 8th century, Rajasiman the king had built many Kailasanathar temples across Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram. When he constructed this temple, it was left unfinished for a long time and Sri Krishnadevaraya took over and had completed the temple. Around 5 acres of land was given to this tenple by him.

A good 1200 years old temple which was in a completely depleted condition was renovated and kumbhabhishekam performed in Feb 2019. The Sivalingam here has been said to been worshipped by sage Agasthiya, one of the saptha rishis & great siddhar.

The Kadambur village has been given as a gift to the Nayakar Kings and huge amount of land was given to this temple for maintenance. All these details of who the kings were are given in the stone inscriptions.

A beautiful serene village and the Temple facing east. There a huge lotus pond right in front of the temple. There are separate Sannidhis for Vinayagar, Murugan and Navagrahas.
