Moolavar: Sri Kailasanathar
Amman: Sri Parvathambigai
A beautiful temple that was built by during the Chola period. Not many will know that goddess Mahalakshmi did penance or Tapas standing in this place, hence the name Thiru (meaning Lakshmi) Nindra (meaning stood) vuru (place) giving its name Thirunindravur. This temple is considered to be present even before the Bhaktha Vathsala Perumal Tenple and Hrudayaleeswarar Temple.
So this temple is connected with the history of one of the 63 Nayanars called Pusalar Nayanar, who is belived to have built a shiva temple with his thoughts in his heart and performed kumbhabhishekam. And that’s how the Hrudayaleeswar tenple has come up. You can read more about Hrudayaleeswar in story of Pusalar Nayanar.
The ancientness of Sri Kailasanathar tenple can be understood through the 10 songs of the Tamil poet Shankaralinga Nadar. Apparently it is belived that Pusalar Nayanar himself has worshiped in this temple.
Sri Kailasanathar is seated as both the moolavar and Urchavar in this tenple. Ambal is called Parvathambigai. The sthala Viruksham (tree) is vilvam.
Actually this temple is located in the North East corner of the town Thirunindravur, north east corner is called Esanya moolai and hence Sri Kailasanathar is also known as Sri Esanyeswarar too.
This temple is considered to be a parihara sthalam for all black magic or otherwise called pilli, soonyam, eval etc. The pariharam is done at the Shakthi Vigraham which is in front of lord shiva.
