Sri Pasupatheeswarar Temple (Esanya Lingam), Thiruverkadu

This is the 8th and the last of lingams of Lord Shiva.Located around Thiruverkadu. The Pasupatheeswarar Temple is found on the north-eastern side of the Vedapureeswarar Temple.
Easanya Shivan is the provider of Mukthi which is not easy to attain for mere mortals. 

The Lord, a favourite diety of the Cholas, who started any new task only after worshipping him. The size of the lingam can help one well imagine the size of the temple, once built by Anabaya Cholan would have been. It is presumed to be from the time of the reign of the great CHOLA King KULOTHUNGA CHOLA II, (1133 - 1150 CE) about 800 years ago or more and must have  passed through many dynasties.


This temple is also referred to as Gnaneswari Samedha Easanya lingam. Worshipping this Shiva brings removes hurdles and barriers, brings success in life and grants liberation.
