Moolavar: Sri Anandeeswarar
Amman: Sri Anandhavalli Ambal
A good 1500 years old temple and the local Epigraphic evidences show that the temple was renovated by Rajendra Chola, son of Raja Raja Chola in the year 1022.
Sage Agasthya had worshipped in many temples and also created Shivalingas for his worship. One such temple is of Lord Anadeeswarar temple in Tiruvallur district in Pakkam Gramam near Tirunindravur. The temple is in a pleasant and green environment. The place was then known as Kalila Chaturvedamangalam in the Eekadu Kottam, Puliyur Nadu of those years.
The temple has no shrine for the Navagrahas except one for Jupiter-Guru Bhagwan. The rare Kallala banyan tree is the holy tree of the temple. This is the tree that we all see Sri Dhakshinamoorthy seated and giving mouna upadesam to sanakadhi munivars. There is also a two faced Rudraksha tree here. It is believed that great Siddhas and sages visit the temple invisibly. The 10 pillar Maha Mandap is built aesthetically and as recently as 8 years ago when Kumbhabhishekam was done. Interestingly the temple does not have any other Parivara Murthys other than Ananda Vinayagar and Ananda Balamurugan at either side of the moolavar Sannidhi in the maha mandapam. And the Byravar is also called Ananda Byravar.
There is a small room where the sidhars are believed to meditate even today and the vibration inside that room is unbelievable and one can only experience it when you visit here in person.
A peaceful beautiful temple and they perform daily 2 kala pujai. A must visit temple for sure.
