Sri Ekabandheswarar Temple, Singaperumal koil

Moolavar - Sri Ekabandheswarar
Amman - Sri Yerumunai Nayagi
Place - Singaperumalkovil, Chennai, Tamilnadu

This temple was built by pallavas during the 8th century and was buried under the ground. And around 1995 they have unearthed to find the actual foundation built during the 8th century.

The legend goes that lord Siva took the form of ‘sarapakshi’ a bird form to calm down Sri Narasimar here at Singaperumal when he had taken the Ugra avatharam.

The goddess is called as yerumunai nayagi as the villagers have been manufacturing the grubbing axe used for farming which is called Yeru in Tamil.

The Navagrahas can be seen with their consorts. The avudayar of the sivalingam is in a unique lotus shape.
A beautiful temple in middle of the village and a must visit place.
