Sri Kanthazheeswarar Temple, Kundrathur

The 1000 year old Lord Shiva Temple by then King Kulothunga II.
(Dirt) Azhippavar(Remover) form our hearts( or Lord who removes evil from our hearts and purify it). Is the name of the lord in this temple of Kandhazheeshwarar who is in the form of a Lingam of around five feet. The Avudayar or Pindika is square inside a Garbha Griha, which is in the Gaja prishtha form or Apsidal or D shapes, with a Vimana matching it's Garbhagriha.Towards his left is the goddess Nagaimukavalli, standing beautifully facing South.


Granite temple worshipped by Sri Deiva Sekkizhar who wrote Perriyapuranam in praise of 63 Nayanmars.


There is another sivalingam inside the temple with the name of Sri Balambikai sametha Sri Valeeswarar. 


Near by this place a temple built for Sekkizhar and a Sri Ooragaperumal temple also.
