Moolavar: Sri Kailasanatha Eswarar
Amman: Sri Tripurasundari Ambal
A very old Shiva temple in the middle of Chettipunyapuram, it is believed to be around 1000 years old and might have been from the Chola dynasty. The Shivalingam, Ambal, Chandikeshwarar are really old. We can see the antiquity of the vigraham when observed carefully.
There are no ghosta murthies around on the outer praharam and the structure is fully in granite.
The Maha mandapam has a Pillayar and Murugan Sannidhi and in the outer praharam there is another Pillayar under a peepal tree, separate Sannidhi for Byravar and Navagrahas can be seen.
There is absolutely no support from the local villagers to run the temple.
Contact: Mr. Ezhumalai takes care of the temple and does one kala poojai. He can be reached at 7867841956.
Also there is a famous yoga Hayagreevar Temple in the same village where lot of parents come along with their kids to pray for better improvement in their studies and for knowledge improvement.
