Sri Thiruvaaleeswarar Temple, Thiruvannaikovil Village, Kanchipuram

The temple may be constructed during 13th  to 14th  Century and has the contributions from Pandyas, and Vijayanagaras. The Vijayanaga period inscriptions records the endowment of burning Lamps, poojas, for the same, money, lands were gifted to this temple.

Kochadaya Varmar Thiribhuvana Chakravarthikal Sri Sundarapandya period inscription records the endowment of burning Sandhi lamp for which donations were made.

LEGENDS
It is believed that this is one of the temple in which the Vanara King Vali installed and worshiped Lord Shiva and Agasthiyar also worshiped.

Since Lord Shiva is facing North, this temple is considered as a Guru Sthalam. It is believed that Lord Shiva teaches the Gnanam ( Knowledge and wisdom ) and it will be auspicious to worship Lord Shiva on Thursdays, to excel in studies. It is also believed that this is a marriage boon sthalam, after removing obstacles in the marriage process.
