Moolavar: Sri Kailasanathar
Amman: Sri Kamalambigai Ambal
A very beautiful old shiva temple which is said to be in existence since Adi Shankaran’s time. The old temple has been recently renovated very beautifully without any impact on its antiquity. The fishes on the roof slab shows it’s been built in the Pandyas period. The ghoshta murthies are really beautiful to see.
It is said thst Adhi Shankara during his visit to this location installed the Rahu Ketu vigraham and also gave the name Sir Kailasanathar to this swamy. The sivalingam is small in size with a round Avudayar. Ambal Kamalambigai is facing Sourh and the entrance to the inner mahamandapam is from south only. Most of the vigrahams are very old and recently they have installed Sivasuryan, Byravar and Nalvar.
The Navagrahas are placed in a separate Sannidhi and that is where you can see the Rahu Ketu vigraham installed by shankarar.
A must visit temple and daily pujas are performed and the temple opens by 7:30 am.
