Moolavar: Sri Agastheeswarar
Amman: Sri Akhilandeswari Ambal
An early Pallava period temple which is surely more than 1500 years old. It is said that even Rajaraja Chola himself has only done renovations to this temple, so it’s believed to be in existence before his time. The older name of this place is Agathiyapuram later was called Ullavoor.
The moolavar Agathiswarar is believed to be worshipped by sage Agasthyar and hence the name Agastheeswarar. Ambal Akhilandeswari is facing south and also the main entrance itself is from south signifying that it must have been a parihara sthalam.
The temple structure is very old and has been renovated in recent years. The south side has a beautiful temple tank where they perform Tepostvam during Panguni Uthiram here.
Another unique feature is there you can see Jeshtadevi vigraham which is belived to be the ishta Devi of Pallava kings. It’s kept towards the north west corner of the temple.
Daily one kala pujai is performed and all pradosham days anna dhanam is provided.
