It was told that Sri Thopa Swamigal, a siddhar stayed here and did pooja to Sri Mallikeswarar about 400 years before. His jeeva Samadhi is at Saidapet, near Vellore.

To prove it’s antiquity, the roof of the sanctum was built with granite stone. Completely modified during the present renovation and tiles were laid on the walls and floors and kumbhabhishekam was performed during 2016.

The temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram. The sanctum sanctorum consists of Sanctum, Artha mandapam and muka mandapam. Nandhi and balipeedam are in the mukha mandapam. In Koshtam, Veerabhadra, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Vishnu, Brahma, Saraswathy, Mahalakshmi and Durgai. The sanctum is in a rectangular shape. Sri Mallikeswarar is at the center, Sri Sakthi Ganapathy is on the right and Sri Visalakshi Samedha Sri Viswanathar ( in the same sanctum ) is on the right. Sri Maheswari is facing south.
