Sri Sathuragiri Sundharamahalingam Temple, Medavakkam, Chennai

Moolavar: Sri Sathuragiri Sundharamahalingam

Amman: Sri Angaallaman

A beautiful small temple in Santhosapuram of Medavakkam which is in a makeshift structure. All the murthies have pure Tamil names like Arulmigu Azhagiya Pillayar, Arulmigu Ilamurugan and even Sivan is known as Arulmigu Sathuramalai Azhagiya Mathirumeni Appar, there is Kubera lingam in the outer praharam called Arulmigu Selvan Thozha Thirumeni. Also they have a Dhakshinamurthy which looks like a Swayambhu Pilllayar found from the nearby lake. Tamil Agamam is followed here completely.

To name this temple they had over 108 names to chose from and itseems that Sundaramahalingam surfaced three times and the people here went to Chathuragiri in Virudhunagar and a siddhar confirmed it and gave a handful of mud from Chathuragiri which was gotten back here and this temple was built. Swarnakarshna Byravar is seen with his consort seated on his left lap.

As the Tamil agamam is followed anybody and everybody can do abhishekam here during the morning puja.
