Sri Agastheeswarar Temple, Thiruporur

Moolavar: Sri Agastheeswarar
Amman: Sri Vedhavalli Ambal
Place: Venbedu, Thiruporur, Chennai

A good 1200 year old Sivan temple completely in granite and is said to be worshipped by all 3 kings of the Cheran, Cholan and Pandya dynasty. Inscription available and also the symbols of fish and lion can be seen on the ceiling near Ambal Sannidhi.

Separate Sannidhi for Vinayagar and Balamurugan can be seen. There is a beautiful temple pond in the north side of the temple and at the gate you can see padithurai Vinayagar having separate Sannidhi.

There are no Navagrahas in the temple which clearly shows that it’s vey ancient temple.
The temple is built so accurately that early morning sun rays directly falls on the sivalingam and illuminates the grabhagraham.

Next to the Sivan temple there is a Jayaveera Anjaneyar temple with a 25 ft Anjaneyar.
