Sri Mahalingeswarar Temple, Kundrathur

Moolavar - Sri Mahalingeswarar
Amman - Sri Maragathambikai
Place - Melmalayambakkam, Kundrathur,Chennai, Tamilnadu

Its a 2500 years old sivan temple. History says the lord was hurt by the sword of king Thondaiman, when he tried to untangle the Jasmine creeper from the legs of his elephant. Amman symbolises kriyasakthi.

Untill 2005, the lingam was placed inside deep bushes. Later village people built a small hut and placed the big lingam and started worshipping. They are also giving a viboothi prasadam made with sand which is believed to have medicinal values.
