Amman: Sri Sivagami Ambal
A very old temple which was built during the Pallava period. It is said that when Indra prayed to lord shiva for Amrutham, lord shiva appeared to him and gave the Amruta Kalasa. While he gave a drop of Amrutham fell here and it formed a Swayambhu Sivalingam. As he was formed out of the Amruta kalasam he was called Amruta Kalasa Thyageswarar and this village was called as Kalasai.
Later it is said that the lord gave Dharshan to all devas in his dance form and since then was called as Chidambareshwarar. The same is depicted right above on the moolavar Sannidhi.
It is Shivagnyana Munivar has sung many Tamil songs on this shivan in Pillai Tamil.
The entire temple is in its old form of granite structure the Amabal Sivagami is facing south an inthe main maha mandapam its self.
