Sri Ramalingeswarar Temple, Thimmarajampettai, Kanchipuram

Moolavar: Sri Ramalingeswarar

Amman: Sri Parvathavarthini Ambal

A very old shiva temple built during the chola period and is considered to be the Rameshwaram of the north Tamilnadu or Vada-rameshwaram in Tamil. The Vijayanagar empire Thimmapa Nayakar has done lot of donation and renovation to this temple.

In the grabhagraham you can see somaskandar in the pudapu chitiram like you see in Kachi Ekambareswarar temple and pravathavarthini is exactly like the one in Rameshwaram.

The temple is bang on the main road from Walajabad to Kanchipuram and it is said that People who are not able to go down to Rameswaram, can pray here and get the same benefits of visiting that temple.

Many people from different counties actually visit this temple during the month of Puratasi for Mahalaya ammavasai and also perform pithru kariyam during that pithru paksham or 15 days.

Temple faces east, Lord faces east, Ambal faces south. The outer prakaram, there is a beautiful vinayagar Vigram on the compound and seems like the separate Sannidhi must have been demolished for road widening those days. Also you have a separate Sannidhi for Valli Deivayanai Samedha Sri Subramania swamy.  Now again road widening plans are underway and we hope and pray the temple is not demolished.

Contact: Daily one kala pujai is performed and the temple opens between 7:30 am to 8 am. And the Kurkal Sri Srinivasan can be reached on 8610913076

Location: Sri Ramalingeswarar Temple, Thimmarajampettai, Kanchipuram
