Moolavar: Sri Thiruvaleeswarar
Amman: Sri Thirupurasundari Ambal

A good 1000 years old temple Initially built during the Chola era, the temple has been renovated  by the Vijayanagara Kings. Various inscriptions found within the temple premises date back to the reigns of Rajaraja Chola I, Sambuvarayars, and Vijayanagara Kings. These inscriptions detail the grants and gifts bestowed upon the temple.

This is said to be one of the 16 temples around Thirukazhukundram Vedapureeswarar in 16 different directions.

Currently, the temple is in a dilapidated condition, yet Lord Shiva is worshipped within. Vegetation and trees have grown over the sanctum, adding to the temple’s ancient ambiance.

Temple features a three-tier Rajagopuram, though it is leaning. Constructed with a sanctum sanctorum, this temple houses idols of Goddess Durgai, Lord Vinayagar, and Lord Bhairavar. Currently, there is no Vimana over the temple’s sanctum.

Contact: The temple needs a renovation and seems like there is absolutely no support from the government HR&CE group. The temple Kurukal Sampath can be reached on 88700 30252
