Sri Brahadeeshwarar temple, Kazhipattur

Moolavar: Sri Brahadeeshwarar
Amman: Sri Mangalambikai
Place: Kazhipattur, OMR

The age of the Temple is not known, but according to the temple priest, this is one of the oldest temples (1000 years)of this region built by Chola rulers, a document about which is apparently available in Saraswathy Mahal LIBRARY. Shivalinga, Mangalambika and Bhairava idols were lying unattended at the site for several years and in 2001 a temple was erected, and recently reconstructed.

A lovely, large lily/lotus pond is part of the temple and is opposite the main entrance. On the busy OMR and easy to miss the temple as the temple is in a lane and has a small structure. One could be sure that by the grace of God, many would throng the temple in the years to come, as there are innumerable apartments coming up in this area. The priest in charge is Sri Arunachala Gurukal, MA, B.End, a Tamil Pandit. He has written a long prayer song in Chaste Tamil, praising the Lord and the temple.

We have separate idol for lord chitragupta also. We have big Kali statue which explains the age of the temple
