Sri Manneeswarar Temple, Mannivakkam

Moolavar: Sri Manneeswarar
Amman: Sri Maragadhambikai
Place: Mannivakkam

The earlier name of this lord has been Mukthishwarar which in turn as changed to Maneeshwarar.

The temple is a good 1200 years old temple, but there are no epigraph available, but there are recent epigraphs of 18th and 19th century found at the base of the sanctum.

Just like in Somamangalam temple the Nandhi is facing east instead of facing the lord Shiva, as he was requested by Kulothunga chozhan to participate in the war while the temple construction was in progress.

The moolavar Sri Maneeshwarar is little tall and very beautiful.Goddess Maragadhambikai is in a separate Sannidhi facing the south. The goshta murthies are really beautiful and specially Guru Dhakshinamurthy is really very beautiful.

The outer prakaram has Dhwajasthambam. Nandhi mandapam and Balipeedam. Also separate Sannidhi for Ganapathy, Valli Devasena Subramaniam
