The Shiva Lingam is big and beautiful looking. The temple was built by Pallavas. East facing temple but the entrance is through west. Daily Pooja are performed. This temple was in the middle of the big lake as per history and the same is evident in Thiruneermalai history.
As it Relate to Thiruneermalai Perumal where it is called Thiruneermalai Kshetram also called as "Thoyagiri Kshetram" and also as "Thothadri". Thoya means "Water" and Adhiri means "Mountain" (malai). Since the mountain is surrounded by water, this sthalam is named as "Thiru Neermalai"
