Amman: Sri Aram Valartha Nayagi
Place: Thaiyur Village, Kelambakkam, Chennai
A 2000 very old temple tucked deep inside villages and narrow streets that one may easily miss. There are 7 Shivan temples around the Thayur village and Maareswarar is one of them. There has been once a great famine and as the prayer to this Lord good rains came hence it’s known as Maareeswarar. The stone inscriptions have all been used up to build lake compounds around and hence the actual history is unknown for now.
There is an stone inscribed image of Sri Uthanda Kalpaal Mannar who has is believed to have built this temple.
A well maintained temple and is located in a peaceful area, this temple has sanctums for Lord Shiva (Maareeswarar) and Parvathi (Aram Valartha Nayagi), Hanuman, Bhairavar and Navagrahas. The Goddess here looks so beautiful with a smiling face.
Dharmasamvardhini is the Sanskrit name for Aramvalartha Nayagi. Aram means Dharma, Valartha means to have developed or Samvardhanam, hence the name Dharmasamvardhini. Here she has a dhandam in her hand to prevail justice
The kumbhabhishekam has been recently completed for the maha dhwara Gopuram.
