Sri Thiruvaleeshwarar Temple, Chengelpet

Moolavar: Sri Thiruvaleeshwarar
Amman: Sri Thirupurasundari
Place: Kattankulathur, Chengelpet

It is believed that this lingam was installed by Vaali from the Ramayan time. Kulothuga cholan has been belived to have worshiped this temple in AD 1200. The lingam is very unique and unlike other lingams we see which will have a smoother finish, this lingam has a rough finish.

The lord was found buried under the peepal(Arasa) tree here and later was excavated and installed in the shrine. The lingam and ambal is adored by Vetriver malai.

Separate Sannidhi for RathnaGanapathi,Balamurugan, Bairavar and Navagrahas are found. Naga devars can be seen under the peepal tree

Another very unique and interesting thing to be noticed is the Navagrahas are all facing east and installed in a semi circle form
